Knema, LLC combines art, science and design to create custom LED lights for businesses and homes.

“I guess you can say, when it comes to lighting, we have you covered from top to bottom,” Patrick Gwyer, of Knema LLC said.

Knema, LLC is a solid state lighting reseller providing LED edge-lit panels, LED back-lit modules and electroluminescent material to customers in a wide range of fields.

Gwyer said the LED modules are an efficient, low-maintenance way to back light translucent material such as stone, glass, images on plastic, glass or film and they work well as a light source in architectural applications.

Specializing in custom products to fit customer specifications, some possible uses for edge-lit panels include photography, signage, architectural lighting, light boxes, retail displays, undercabinet lighting, backlighting stone or stained glass, lighting in floors, lighted walls, creating a faux window or skylight and lighted shelves and tables.

Knema has provided LED and electroluminescent products to commercial, theatrical and residential contractors worldwide since 2001 and wants to help people re-imagine their traditional light sources.

Owner Glen Bundrick started this company as a part-time venture 13 years ago, importing and reselling LED panels, modules and electroluminescent material.

Bundrick said with LED lighting, customers now not only have an option that is far more energy efficient, but is far more flexible. The LED back-lit modules can be used in a ceiling fixture or as a light source to backlight stone in the entryway of a home or business. LED lighting is also used to brighten traditional stainedglass windows.

“My staff and I place quality as the first priority; friendly, reliable service and fair price are close behind,” Bundrick said. “Our design, manufacturing and distribution facility is geographically well-located in Shreveport, making it possible for us to deliver a high-quality custom or off-the-shelf LED module with reasonable lead times.”

The company has provided products to many recognized companies such as Khols, Sprint, NASA, General Mills, Ralph Lauren and Northrop Grumman. Several Knema projects have been also featured on Houzz.com.

“One really neat job that comes to mind is the new “Tron” movie that came out in 2010. We provided a lot of electroluminescent material for the movie,” Gwyer said.
