Nonprofits set events for day of giving

The Community Foundation of North Louisiana will host Give for Good on May 5 featuring 24 hours of online giving. This event will raise unrestricted dollars for the 156 participating nonprofits in our community. It is a day of giving to celebrate the nonprofits and a chance to raise thousands of dollars to make our community even better.
The minimum gift is $10 and more than $275,000 is available in prizes and bonus funds.
 
WHEN: Tuesday, May 5, 2015 from 12 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.

Morning:
·        The Glen will have a donation station set up at Southern Maid Donuts (1409 E. 70th Dr.) in Pierremont Plaza from 6:00 - 8:00am
·        Holy Angels: BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS at Rhino Coffee (721 Southfield Road). Guest speakers include Andrew Crawford and Adam Young, who will share details of their partnerships with Holy Angels as well as their involvement with the AngelWorks Day Program. Begins at 7 a.m.
·        Martin Luther King Health Center (865 Olive St.) is hosting a press conference in the new Community Garden at 10:00 a.m.
 
Lunch:
·        The Arc of Caddo-Bossier Food Truck Event celebrating diversity at Goldman School and Child Development Center. From 11:30 to 1 p.m. The Missing Link, Lilah's Bakery, and Conly Kitchen will be parked in our parking lot ready to sell food and drinks for the community and for our staff.
·        Blue Forever will have a giving lunch event downtown at Mandina’s Grill (830 Fannin St.) on from 11am to 2pm. Belt Trauma Kit and information about Blue Forever will be available. Donation Stations available.
·        Cohab will hosting Cinco de Cohab to celebrate Cohab's 5th anniversary and Give for Good Day. The celebration will take place in the Red River District under the Texas Street Bridge from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature food trucks from La Michocana, Lucky's Poboys, Jester Catering and Fleur de Creme in addition to Red River District favorites.
·        Community Renewal International (838 Margaret Place) from 11:30-1:30 will have an open house at for all donors, partners, and potential donors. Chick-fil-a will be served and donation stations available.
·        The Fuller Center for Housing of NWLA (4221 Linwood Ave.) will host a Friend of Fuller Fiesta during lunch from 11-2pm. There will be live music from talented artists in our community, food, and giving stations will be set up in the Millard Fuller room.
·        GIVE FOR GOOD COOKOUT at the Holy Angels’ Gazebo (10450 Ellerbe Road). Join residents, families, friends and staff for hamburgers and hot dogs followed by a dance party.
·        The Philadelphia Center and the MLK Health Center invite the public to visit Grill of the Dead and Ki Mexico, popping up for lunch next to Joseph Guin Salon (711 Texas St.) from 11:30am - 2:00pm.
·        For Robinson Film Center's goal to build a 7th anniversary marquee for a beautiful downtown movie theater, Abby Singer's Bistro (617 Texas St.) will serve $7 lunch specials from noon to 1 p.m.
·        Susan G. Komen will be hosting a Pink Ribbon Popup at the Louisiana Boardwalk. At 11 a.m.
 
Early Evening:
·        Ark-La-Tex Pregnancy Center Give For Good Block Party from 5pm-7pm at the Learning Center (1205 South Pointe Parkway). Tours of the Learning Center will take place with multiple Donation Stations.
·        Catholic Charities: Happy Hour at Ristorante Giuseppe (4800 Line Avenue) from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Celebrate and enjoy cocktails and Chef Giuseppe's delicious hors d' oeuvres. Donation Stations available and volunteers to help easily make donations.
·        The Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse of Northwest Louisiana (CADA) and Breathe Yoga Shreveport will host "Breath With CADA," a vinyasa yoga event, taking place at Betty Virginia Park from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Water bottles and some yoga mats will be provided, but please bring a towel just in case. Volunteers available to help with donations.

·        Gingerbread House and Holiday Lanes (3316 Old Minden Rd, Bossier City) will Strike Out Child Abuse from 4-7 p.m. Learn more about Gingerbread House and make a donation to support the hundreds of children in our community affected by child abuse. Open to the Public.  Take your shot and bowl a Strike to end child abuse in our community.
·        Oakwood Home for Women (1700 Highland Ave.) will have an open house from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m.
·        Pet Savers will be at The Fairfield Place Bed & Breakfast (2221 Fairfield Ave). Join us for a Open House in the evening to celebrate this city-wide day of giving. It will be a night of live music, complimentary cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. Begins at 4:30.
·        Robinson’s Rescue The Whole Enchihuahua will from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Marilynn's Place (4041 Fern Avenue). Guests are invited to bring their "perro" and join Robinson's Rescue for a Fiesta, Dog Walk and Costume Contest!
·        Shreveport Regional Arts Council, Robinson Film Center and Shreveport Symphony Orchestra will gather in the Engine Room of the Central ARTSTATION (801 Crockett) from 5 – 7:30 pm on Tuesday, May 5, for a Day of Giving Happy Hour event. Each organization will have information about their programs and can help you make your donation(s) online while you enjoy complimentary munchies, beer and wine.
·        Spring Street Museum (525 Spring Street) is hosting a soft open with Food, Fun and Philanthropy from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
·        Volunteers of America of North Louisiana will be at Frank’s Pizza Napoletana (6950 Fern Ave.) from 5:30-7:30 PM
·        The YMCA will host a Dodgeball Free For All Tournament! Grab some friends and come to the Broadmoor Y (215 Carroll St.) for a fun and charitable experience! At 4 p.m.
 
Late Evening:
·        Cohab will hosting Cinco de Cohab to celebrate Cohab's 5th anniversary and Give for Good Day. From 5 p.m. – 10 p.m. there will be live music to keep the giving going well into the night!
·        PINTS FOR PAWS at Great Raft Brewing (1251 Dalzell St.) from 4-9 pm with live music, Ki Mexico catering and donation stations. Pets welcome outside where we'll have tents and tables.
·        Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission’s Birthday Fiesta will be hosted from 6:00-9:00 p.m. on the rooftop of the Remington Suites Hotel (220 Travis Street).
·        The YWCA of Northwest Louisiana is partnering with My Spa My Way (700 E Kings Hwy) from 5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. to offer an unforgettable and relaxing event.
 
All Day
·        Community Support Programs at Virginia Place Apartments Community Room (1130 Busby St.) from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. All are invited to join us as we celebrate CSP’s 25th Anniversary.
·        Renesting Project will be at Twisted Root Burger Co. (8690 Line Ave.) from 11am-10pm, to gather, dine, celebrate and watch the leaderboard RISE. Featuring funky music-themed décor, a huge bar, covered and uncovered family-friendly patios. Come and have your photo taken in the infamous "Give for Good" seat!
·        Renzi Education and Art Center will be at Starbucks from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Volunteers and Donation Stations will be available.
·        Volunteers for Youth Justice at Carrabba’s Italian Grill (1706 E. 70th Street) from 11:00 am – 8:00 pm. This will be a fun day of food, drinks, and give-a-ways for the whole family.  Carrabba’s will have their catering trailer set up with free food samples throughout the day. Drink specials to celebrate Cinco de Mayo - $2 Coronas; $3 Margaritas and $5 Margherita Pizza’s all day.
Happy Hour will be 3:00 – 7:00 with half price appetizers and cocktails, bounce house and balloon animals.
