Casino successfully gambles on Northwest Louisiana

This month, DiamondJacks Casino is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Occupying the first casino riverboat in Bossier City, they have plenty to celebrate over the past 10 years.

DiamondJacks Casino opened Aug. 1, 2006, and has been making a name for itself in the community ever since.

With 530 employees, DiamondJacks continues to grow.

Janet Maldonado, convention service manager, is one of those employees who loves her job and looks forward to work at DiamondJacks.

“The people at DiamondJacks are like family to me,” Maldonado said. “I’ve worked there for the past decade and have enjoyed the relationships with not only my co-workers but also with our customers. I’m looking forward to many more successful years at DiamondJacks.”

Mike Howard, vice president/general manager since 2013, is also grateful for DiamondJacks and his years on staff there. “My favorite part of my job is working with our awesome staff and our loyal customers,” Howard said.

DiamondJacks Casino has seen many milestones over the past 10 years. “We’ve been able to employ over 500 team members, some of who have been with the organization for more than 20 years,” Howard said. “Our casino also has the best players club – the Rewards Club. Better cash back.”

DiamondJacks Casino offers several amenities locals might not realize. For starters, they are the only casino with a full-service RV park and the only casino with a family-friendly arcade for the young at heart. They also boast to have the largest outdoor resort-style pool in the Shreveport-Bossier City area and have 22,000 square feet of meeting space for banquets. They also have live entertainment every weekend that showcases local talent.

“We’ve hosted and continue to have some of the hottest monthly headliner shows/acts, including Travis Tritt, Rodney Atkins, MMA, Keith Sweat, Loverboy, Restless Heart, Tracy Lawrence and many more,” Howard said.

There’s another, deeper layer to DiamondJacks Casino than simply its notable entertainment and fine dining. DiamondJacks has also been the exclusive host of the annual “Taste of Culture” fund-raiser for the Multicultural Center of the South for the past four years.

They’ve also been the exclusive host of the annual “Chocolates & Champagne” fund-raiser for Easter Seals Louisiana the past two years, a cause that assists those in Louisiana with various mental and physical disabilities.

DiamondJacks offers 24-hour slot and table game action, free valet parking, a bar with live entertainment, more than 500 hotel rooms and multiple restaurants, including DJ’s Seafood and Steaks, Legends Buffet, The Grill and Agave.

Howard hopes the next decade will be just as great as the past one, even with some changes on the horizon – including that of being bought by Peninsula Pacific. “We’re looking forward to improvements of the operation as a result of being purchased by Peninsula Pacific,” Howard said. Peninsula Pacific announced in June it had acquired Legends Gaming, LLC and its ownership shares of Louisiana Riverboat Gaming Partnership, DiamondJacks Casino in Bossier City.

In a recent press release, M. Brent Stevens of Peninsula Pacific said of the acquisition, “Peninsula Pacific is extremely enthusiastic to once again be involved in the Louisiana gaming, entertainment and hospitality industry.”
