The Blake seeks to be the premier assisted living facility

The Blake, soon to be constructed in Bossier City at the northeast corner of Airline Highway and Greenacres Boulevard, will bring a new level of comfort, services and amenities to North Louisiana seniors.

As the newest assisted living and memory care facility, The Blake will offer cuting-edge building design and wellness programs, Shreveport native and COO of Blake Management Group Glenn Barclay said.

Barclay said the community will include 72 assisted living apartments and 48 memory care apartments.

“Our building design and services appeal to folks who are independent, but desire an easier way of life,” Barclay said. “We will take care of the details so that our residents can enjoy the things in life that they love most – especially their family and friends.”

The Blake will have services and care available for residents who need assistance with daily activities, Barclay said.

“We really strive to provide a true assurance of safety, wellness and security – which is why we have onsite nurses 24 hours a day to respond to our residents’ health-care requests and family members’ questions,” he said.

Memory care will be important in the community with a separate, secure memory care unit, Barclay said.

“Our memory community offers a secure living environment for residents with Alzheimer’s disease or other memory impairments,” he said. “Our resident apartments are equipped with customized motion sensors that help our staff know when our residents need assistance.

Barclay said The Blake’s philosophy is centered on building trusting relationships both with residents and families that foster emotional well-being.

“We want to become a trusted resource for families looking for options to provide a safe and full life for their spouse, mom or dad,” he said.

The memory care staff of community nurses and team members are specifically trained to provide compassionate care to older adults with dementia and memory impairments, Barclay said.

“Connecting with someone with dementia is not always easy,” he said. “We give our team the tools to make a difference in the lives of the people in their care. We have structured programs including a state-of-the-art software program designed for memory care residents. It allows our staff to create a personalized experience for each of our residents using the events that are significant to them personally — whether it is simulating flying a plane to Paris or riding a bicycle in the neighborhood they recognize.”

The Blake is a combination of wellness programs, hospitality and design, making it a leader in the industry, Barclay said.

Seniors who come to live at The Blake will appreciate help with some daily tasks while still maintaining and valuing their independence.

“We provide the best of both worlds in a resort-style community,” Barclay said. “Our apartments provide the same comforts of living at home, but our amenities and planned activities allow our residents experiences and socialization they wouldn’t experience living alone.”

Barclay said he wants the community to know that The Blake is affordable, with no buy-in fees and rates for assisted living starting at $2,500. “Once fully occupied we anticipate creating 70 full- and part-time jobs, as well as providing contract jobs for some of our health-care and ancillary services,” Barclay said.
