Holy Angels brings home to Shreveport the Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations (LANO) 2017 Force for Good “Nonprofit of the Year” Award. LANO awarded this top honor to only one other recipient, Capital Area United Way, during the group’s annual conference Aug. 17 in Baton Rouge. Laurie Boswell, Holy Angels’ CEO, and Kristen Powers, development director, accepted the award on behalf of the board of directors, staff, residents and program participants.

“Receiving this esteemed recognition is a testament to our mission – to empower young adults with disabilities with meaningful jobs and to serve Louisiana’s most vulnerable and medically complex citizens. The Force for Good Nonprofit of the Year Award recognizes the passion, commitment and leadership provided by our board, families, staff and supporters from all parts of Louisiana. On behalf of our founders and all staff, Holy Angels is thrilled to receive this prestigious award,” Boswell said.

The LANO Force for Good Awards pay tribute to Louisiana nonprofit organizations and individuals whose practices create excellence. Winners are outstanding models of mission achievement and community impact – and continue to create Louisiana’s culture.

Holy Angels provides love, support and empowerment for approximately 185 individuals with disabilities through its residential facility, AngelWorks Day Program and Autism Center.

“It was so exciting to hear Holy Angels’ name called as a winner of this prestigious award. This recognition is earned by the nearly 280 staff members – our angels – who come to work each day ready to love, support and empower our residents and program participants to reach their highest potential,” Powers said.
