Legendary Louisiana Chef John Folse was the special guest for the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum’s biennial fund-raiser, Glitz and Grits. The Sept.16 event was on the grounds of the museum and throughout the buildings. Chef John Folse catered the party and hosted a cooking demonstration. Potter Bruce Odell demonstrated his “raku” pottery methods, and artist Tanya Dischler had her art displayed in the gallery space. Funds raised at the event support educational programing and exhibits at the museum.

On Sept. 30, the Marlene Yu Museum in downtown Shreveport hosted an 80th Birthday Party Gala for Marlene Yu. Catered by Chef Anthony Felan, the evening featured a multi-course meal and the unveiling of Marlene Yu’s new “Pink Marble” paintings. The evening gala also featured Cyr wheel acrobatics and fi re poi spinning by Spinner Entertainment, sword-balancing tribal belly-dancers of Port Belly Project, and the debut of a local parkour jumper from All Angles Martial Arts. – Mark Crawford
