Teams cookoff in support of local high school seniors

The event features a competition between teams from across the country made up of top chefs, professional barbecue teams and backyard grilling fanatics. The teams will be judged on categories of chicken, pork ribs, pork and brisket and a grand champion crowned during the evening’s award ceremony.

African-American Chamber of Commerce Annual Gala

The Shreveport-Bossier African-American Chamber of Commerce hosted their annual meeting and reception Feb. 19 at the Horseshoe Casino Riverdome in Bossier City. The evening began with a VIP reception, which allowed attendees to mingle with the award recipients and keynote speaker Margarita “Maggie” Anderson, the author of “The Empowerment Experiment.

Local artist continues Artport showing

Wray was 60 years old when she participated in her first Artport and still continues at the age of 89. Even though she and her daughter work separately, most often in their own studios; they’ve encouraged one another along the way and enjoyed the surprise of seeing each other’s developments in each show.
