Denée Locke selected for prestigious award

The Business Development Connection of the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce has honored Deneé Locke as the recipient of the prestigious ATHENA Leadership Award at the annual awards luncheon held at Sam’s Town Hotel & Casino.

The ATHENA Award honors individuals who have attained the highest level of professional excellence by showing creativity and initiative in their business or profession, have devoted time and energy to improve the quality of life for others in the community in a meaningful way, and have opened doors of leadership opportunities for women in order for them to achieve their full potential.

Locke was selected from an accomplished field of honorees which included Corine W. Ambler, Pamela D. Barker, Teresa L. Caine, Ree J. Casey-Jones, Dianne Clark, Shondale T. Coleman, Tracy Hadwin, Rosie Lee James, Jazmin Janiece Jernigan, Jamie Bradford Lopez, Debbie Martin, Tiya “Ty” Scroggins, Margaret Scott Shehee, Sarona M. Snyder and Dr. Kimberly Woods.

Locke is a Shreveport native who divides her time between running three local businesses, Closets In Order Inc., Locke Homes Inc. and Locke Properties Inc., serving as a Caddo Parish School Board representative, participating in philanthropic activities and spending time with her family.

Locke’s community involvement includes service as chair for the Providence House Safe House Renovation Project, creating a safe house which provided shelter for more than 600 abused families between 2009 and 2014. Deneé is a member of the Women’s Philanthropy Network and the Northwest Louisiana’s Homebuilder’s Association.
