Fit For LiFe expo 2016
Held annually in Shreveport and produced by Robert “Super-Mann” Blount, Fit for Life, in its 13th year, promotes health and fitness for everyone with family-friendly events that focus on improving overall quality of life. In addition, the 2016 Fit For Life Expo features the latest in fitness equipment, apparel and nutrition, along with a fitness stage and kids’ activities at the Shreveport Convention Center.
“We’re doing this because we want this event to belong to the city of Shreveport,” Super-Mann said. “It’s not a Super-Mann event, it’s a city of Shreveport and Bossier event. And at the end of the day, the mission is to bring about health and fitness awareness to the city and state of Louisiana.”
In 2015, Blount estimates between 20,000 and 30,000 people attended the event, including athletes and general public.
“It’s grown immeasurably, and one of the reasons is because of the support we are getting from the city of Shreveport – the parish commissioners, the mayor, all of the businesses here, gym owners and the vitamin world,” he said. “People are becoming more fitness aware and want to be a part of this event.”
Growth of the event also has to do with the knowledge attendees are taking away from it.
“Every year, we are touching more kids and parents that fitness and health awareness is not an option, it is a necessity,” Super-Mann said. “We get the kids talking about it and spreading the flames to their parents, and that has allowed this (event) to catch fire.”
While demonstrations of all kinds for all ages will take place at the Shreveport Convention Center, fitness competitions will be taking place all around the city.
