Center to help meet work force shortage.

The proposed Center for Medical Education and Wellness is proving to be a source of great excitement in the community as this will be the first new building on the LSU Health Shreveport campus since 2007. The Center is designed to accommodate 50 additional medical students per class, expand select allied health programs as well as add new programs. The Center will also address the current lack of wellness and small group teaching space in a modern, technology-rich environment to address the learning styles of today’s students. Increasing the number of educated health-care professionals is critical in meeting the health-care workforce shortage.

The $60 million project represents a 50/50 public-private funding model with one-third of the private dollars ($10 million) raised. Numerous naming opportunities remain.
