The Shreveport Symphony Orchestra (SSO) will headline the 11th annual Freedom Fest Finale, airing on KTBS 3 News on July 4 celebrating God and country. The Symphony concert will be played throughout the evening in a televised production that includes performances from Charity Gayle of Houston, Betty Lewis of Shreveport, and KTBS 3’s Linnea Allen.

Presented by Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath and in partnership with KTBS, this virtual concert will precede live coverage of fireworks from eight locations across the ArkLaTex, including Natchitoches, Texarkana, Ruston and several sites in Shreveport and Bossier City.

Viewers can watch the fireworks at 9:15 p.m. live on KTBS 3 and KPXJ-CW 21. The entire televised Freedom Fest Finale will air on KTBS 3 beginning at 6 p.m. on July 4.

The SSO is producing and editing performances of seven patriotic orchestral favorites, including “America the Beautiful,” “Stars and Stripes Forever,” and “God Bless America,” which will also feature over 40 singers from the Centenary College Choir.

Due to ongoing restrictions because of the coronavirus pandemic, all musicians and singers recorded their individual parts in their homes. Their contributions are being compiled to produce a “virtual orchestra” performance for the community.

“We are thrilled to be part of this unique celebration. A time like this demands creative approaches, and I am grateful to KTBS for the opportunity to continue to share music with our community in this way,” Symphony Conductor Michael Butterman said.

Other sponsors include the City of Shreveport, Brookshire’s Grocery, Bossier Police Jury, Caddo Commission and Shreveport-Bossier Convention & Tourist Bureau.
