Willis-Knighton Health System has announced that James K. Elrod, president and chief executive officer, plans to retire effective Sept. 30. The board of directors has unanimously elected Jerry A. Fielder II (Jaf) to succeed Elrod as president and CEO.

YPI enlisted a special committee to select 40 young professionals under the age of 40 from Northwest Louisiana based on values such as achievement, experience and innovation, vision, leadership and community involvement.

“Allendale is right there next to downtown,” Brown said. “Allendale is kind of this gateway to the downtown area. A city is only as strong as its weakest neighborhood. Right now, Allendale is one of its weakest neighborhoods. That’s why I believe Shreveport is not strong.

As an educator for over 16 years, I recognize the most important teachers in a child’s life are their parents. Most parents find that providing their child with the best education possible will come with some sort of sacrifice. With this understanding, many families will choose private education.

About a year ago, the commission began meeting to study race cnd cultural diversity issues in Shreveport and make recommendations.

“We’re calling it our 40th birthday,” said Bossier Arts Council Executive Director Robin Jones. “We just want to say thank you to the community, so we are having a big birthday party.” Party-goers are invited to enjoy light hors d’oeuvres and punch, as well as birthday cake and cookies.
