MASTER GARDNER CLASS: The LSU AgCenter is accepting applications for the next Northwest Louisiana Master Gardners Class, scheduled for January through March. NOVEMBER 15: CIVIL WAR GROUP PLANS ESSAY CONTEST. The Brig. Gen. Joseph Bailey Camp 5 of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War is sponsoring an essay contest open to undergraduate college students in Northwest Louisiana and East Texas. $500 in cash prizes offered. The theme of the essay is “How did the veterans of the Civil War reconcile following the conflict?” Entries should be no more than 2,000 words and should be received no later than Nov.15.
