United Kennel Club Competition
Dog and handler teams show off at UKC Invitational
United Kennel Club (UKC) will hold their Inaugural Total Dog Invitational, a $20,000 purse event, at the Shreveport Convention Center Oct. 21-23.
The UKC Total Dog Invitational required dog and handler teams to qualify in the prior competition year to earn an invite to the prestigious threeday event. More than 100 qualified teams will be put to the test in various performance dog sports, such as agility, obedience and conformation, to accumulate points throughout the competition. During a formal banquet on Saturday, Oct. 23, the overall winner of $10,000 will be announced.
Founded in 1898, UKC’s dedication to performance and sporting dogs for over 120 years has garnered millions of registered dogs, 20,000 breeders, more than 3,400 clubs and various industry-leading publications, making it the leading performance dog sports organization in the world. The UKC Total Dog Invitational is a prime example of Dogs That Do More™.
Shreveport-Bossier City makes an ideal home for this national-level event. Boasting riverfront shopping, yearround festivals, golf courses, outdoor recreation, zip-lining, skydiving, flyboarding, museums and arts, UKC Total Dog competitors are sure to enjoy their getaway. UKC exhibitors and their four-legged partners will find an inviting and dog-friendly environment.
“UKC has been pioneering competition dog sports and showcasing the dog-human bond for decades,” UKC director of major events Nicole Sedlecky said. “We are thrilled to work with Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission in creating a memorable event for our exhibitors. Shreveport-Bossier offers everything needed to host a top-notch, national-level event,” Sedlecky added.
