Community honored with National Design Awards

Two projects built in the Community by Shreveport's Vintage Homes won three national awards at the 2021 Best in American Living™ Awards (BALA) hosted by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). At the 2022 International Builders' Show on Feb. 9 in Orlando, Fla., the contractor won a Gold Award for "The Gates on Greenleaf" Townhomes and a Platinum Award for Phase I of the Garden Cottages on Woodberry Avenue. The Garden Cottages also brought home a Best in the South Central Region award as one of the top seven projects recognized nationwide.

Now in its 38th year, BALA recognizes outstanding achievements by builders and design professionals in all sectors of the residential housing industry, including single-family production, custom, multifamily, affordable, remodeling, community and interiors. BALA is built on the principle that all great homes start with great design, no matter cost or size.

Buying a home is often the most significant purchase people will make in their lifetime. BALA winners spotlight what building industry professionals need to know to set their project apart and hit the right mark with today's discerning home buyers.

Additional information about the BALA program can be found at bestinamericanliving.com.

About the projects:

Garden Cottages on Woodberry Phase I

In the summer of 2020, Vintage Homes debuted the design of five cottages to be built along Woodberry Avenue across from three-acre Greenleaf Park and surrounding the new Provenance community garden. These quaint southern cottages are located just steps away from multiple parks, a swimming pool, clubhouse, gym and community garden, encouraging the residents to connect with the outdoors and neighbors. Homeowners were able to work with Vintage Homes and its design team to customize their cottage. Each space is efficiently planned to include walk-in closets, utility rooms and spacious open living areas. These Garden Cottages answered a genuine need for homeowners during an uncertain time with their beauty, comforts, and connectivity to the larger community. Architect: Kirby Pecot; developer: Provenance Development; interior designer: Jenny Johnston Interiors; and land planner: Mike Watkins.

Gates on Greenleaf Townhomes

The "Gates on Greenleaf" is an 11-unit luxury townhome project overlooking Greenleaf Park in Provenance. Designed by the Baton Rouge, La., office of Looney Ricks Kiss in 2017, these townhomes feature high-end finishes like slate courtyards, handmade gas lights, quartz countertops, handmade porcelain tile and wood flooring. Most floor plans also feature wet bars, large pantries, utility rooms and remote main bedrooms. The development offers a combination of one- and two-story homes. Each townhome elevation and floor plan is unique. The exterior design style is reminiscent of Charleston, S.C., with a French Quarter New Orleans flair. Architect: Michael Sullivan, Looney Ricks Kiss (LRK); developer: Provenance Development; interior designer: Jenny Johnston Interiors.

Both of these projects were so wellreceived that in 2022, Provenance will introduce more smaller footprint homes and townhomes to meet the demand of Shreveport residents.
