Ochsner LSU Health and Feist-Weiller Cancer Center hosted its Life Savers 2025: ’80s Rewind Party at the Silver Lake Ballroom on Feb. 6. Guests were encouraged to wear their best fluorescent attire from 40 years ago. Proceeds from the event support Feist-Weiller’s campaign to bring well-earned updates to the hospitality housing at McDade House, which turns 40 this year. — Mark Crawford

The Krewe of Centaur hosts Grand Bal XXXIII: Icons in Toyland at the Shreveport Convention Center on Feb. 8. Ricky Bridges is serving as the Captain this year, along with Tony Prestridge as King XXXIII and Cindy Henry as Queen XXXIII. Casino Royale — 007 was the theme of the Krewe of Justinian’s Grand Bal XXXI on Feb. 1 at Horseshoe’s Riverdome in Bossier City. Serving as this year’s Captain is Holland Miciotto, King XXXI is Stephen Fortson, and Queen XXXI is Amy Bokenfohr. Entertainment was provided by the Georgia Bridgewater Orchestra. — Mark Crawford

The Turkey Fry Guys presented a historic $200,000 check to the Gingerbread House Children’s Advocacy Center on Feb. 18 at Chevyland. Local organizations and volunteers deep-fried more than 1,500 turkeys. The donation was the largest in Gingerbread House’s history. — Paul Savage Jr.
