New podcast debuts at Robinson Film Center

Two women. One friendship. Honest conversations about life and love after 50. Welcome to the new podcast series, “Two Peas One Pod 318,” featuring local Shreveport residents Felecia Williams and Bonne Summers. These two friends have known each other for 25 years, and their podcast will debut at Robinson Film Center on Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m.

Although they grew up in different cultural backgrounds, Felecia and Bonne discovered many similarities in their childhoods and adult lives. They have faced both good and bad experiences, and now want to share these stories with other women who may relate. One of the main reasons for producing this podcast is to help women entering the second half of their lives gain greater self-esteem, build confidence and realize they are not alone in facing life’s challenges. Felecia and Bonne are eager to share their wisdom and zest for life.

“We want to help bridge racial and cultural divides and find our commonality as women sharing earned wisdom, while encouraging others in their over-50 life stages,” says Felecia.

Episodes will feature discussions on navigating online dating after 50, tips for maintaining mental wellness and interviews with local experts, including therapists, stylists and authors specializing in women’s health. Other topics include sexuality, overall health, fashion and more. Many episodes will feature special guests who bring unique perspectives and advice related to each theme.

Bonne adds, “While researching this podcast idea, I searched for shows featuring one Black and one white female host focused on supporting and entertaining women over 50, but found almost none. Our purpose is to empower women over 50, bring laughter and challenge the stereotypes about women in the post-menopausal stage. We are here to break that mold!”

With few podcasts addressing the real-life experiences of diverse women over 50, “Two Peas One Pod 318” aims to create a welcoming space where listeners can find both support and inspiration.
