Kevin L. Murphy, a financial/private wealth advisor with Ameriprise Financial, was named to the 2016 Chairman’s Advisory Council.

Murphy qualified for the prestigious CAC recognition based on distinguished performance and client service. He joins other top-ranked advisors to discuss current issues and business opportunities with Ameriprise Financial Chairman and Chief Executive Officer James Cracchiolo and other Ameriprise Financial leaders. The CAC was established in 1984, and advisors qualify each year based on superior business results.

Murphy works at 738 N. Ashley Ridge Loop, Shreveport. political science from the University of Chicago. He also holds Centenary College welcomes the institution’s 31st president, Dr. Christopher L. Holoman.

Holoman comes to Centenary from Hilbert master's degrees in College in Hamburg, N.Y., where he had served as provost since 2007.

A native of Raleigh, N.C., Holoman earned both doctorate and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill, majoring in international relations with a focus on economics.

The National Philanthropy Day Luncheon honors local philanthropic leaders, organizations and fund-raising professionals in the community who reflect the true spirit of generosity, leadership and community. The luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 10 at East Ridge Country Club. The North Louisiana AFT Chapter is seeking nominations of one or more individuals/corporations/foundations for the 2016 philanthropic awards. They ask you to share this request by posting to your Web site, forwarding to board members and volunteer committees.

Catholic Charities of North Louisiana announces the hiring of Meg Goorley as executive director for the organization. Goorley brings more than 30 years of experience in nonprofit organizations throughout Northwest Louisiana.

She was previously the director of development for the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana. A longtime community volunteer, Goorley served as PTSA president for Byrd High School, the high school with the largest alumni association in the U.S., as well as past president for the Shreveport Bar Auxiliary, CABOSA, and Youth Enrichment Program and other community boards.

Catholic Charities of North Louisiana is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that serves those most in need through emergency assistance, financial education, immigration integration services, healthy eating initiative and services and learning programs for lowincome parents and their children.
