New To The Neighborhood
South Highland Storage Center
There is a lot on the to-do list for real estate developer Ricky Lennard as he works on a huge new project. If everything goes as planned, in about six weeks to two months, the South Highland Storage Center will have its grand opening. The center is located at 4019 Fern Ave. in Shreveport. Lennard says there will also be five lease spaces open in addition to the storage center on the south side of the property next to Marilynn’s Place. He is looking for tenants that can pair well with what is already in the neighborhood.
The goal of the project is to meet the needs of the community. Lennard says there was definitely a storage need in this area.
“There is a very big need for storage in that market,” he said. “Most homes there have small closets and small garages. It’s a need that hasn’t been met there. This will be the nicest storage anybody has seen when we are done with it. It’s going to be class A storage.”
In the property plan for the project, Lennard says they also agreed on the five lease spaces for retail and restaurant opportunities. When the area is finished, it will be called “The Shoppes at Madison Park.” As someone who has been in the real estate business for 35 years, Lennard says he has always been interested in this property. He feels there is a lot of room to beautify the area. They’ve done extensive landscaping on the property adding walkways, trees, a water feature and dog water stations. He hopes it becomes a place where community members can come and enjoy themselves.
“We want to show them that we did what we said we were going to do and that is to improve the community. It’s going to be a great place to walk your dog or ride your bike up there and get a sandwich. We wanted to add to the neighborhood.”
Moving forward, Lennard and his team will continue to work on the property in hopes of opening to the public in about two months. He is hopeful that all of their hard work will pay off once it is completed.
“The neighborhood is going to love it. We went the extra mile to make sure it gets done right.”
