For more than 100 years, Cook, Yancey, King & Galloway, has offered the local community legal services and community support.

“Cook Yancey as a firm is involved in the community in which we live and work,” said Cook, Yancey, King, & Galloway President Bernard Johnson. “Individually, our attorneys commit their time and resources to many non-profit, charitable, governmental, professional and civic organizations. The involvements include serving on boards, donating to and organizing project donations, teaching classes and being active members and officers.”

The firm’s representatives support an array of organizations including the United Way, YMCA, MLK Health Center, Robinson Film Center, Common Ground, Junior League of Shreveport- Bossier, Shreveport Regional Arts Council, Academy of Children’s Theatre, The Strand, Volunteers for Youth Justice, Louisiana Public Defenders Board, Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet and The Hub Urban Ministries.

“The firm encourages involvement and service to our community,” said Cook Yancey marketing and recruiting director Candace Collette. “The senior partners have been leaders in numerous organizations such as The Fuller Center, Community Renewal, Volunteers of America, LSUS Foundation and more.”

Cook Yancey also encourages its attorneys to participate in pro bono and civic activities. “Groups aligned with the legal profession, like Volunteers for Youth Justice, pro bono projects and the Louisiana Bar Foundation are a priority, too,” Collette said.

Formed in 1914 as Cook & Cook, the firm has grown into the largest firm in North Louisiana and provides local and national clients with an array of litigation and commercial services with numerous specialties that include oil and gas, tax and estate law, employment law, real estate and insurance law.

“We have added practice areas as needed, and attorneys have developed new areas of expertise as the economy evolves,” Johnson said. “Developing a web presence was a new arena, and we were the first firm in town to hire a marketing director to drive this type of change.”

Johnson believes the firm’s strength has always been its people. He said their hires are highly qualified, and the firm fosters a culture of support. He says that is the reason Cook, Yancey, King & Galloway has many long-term employees.
