40 UNDER FORTY 10 YEARS
When the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce decided in 2007 it was time to embrace young professionals by recognizing their contributions to our communities, the Young Professionals Initiative was born. The YPI then initiated their inaugural 40 Under 40 event for people under the age of 40 for outstanding business achievements and community participation. This year marks the tenth anniversary of that event.
The 2016 gala will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 3 at the Shreveport Convention Center. Sponsorships are available by contacting the Shreveport Chamber at 677-2500. Look for publication of the class of 2014 in the next edition of The Forum.
2013 YPI of the Year Dr. Julie Mook: Shreveport native Dr. Julie Mook received her medical education at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport and continued there to complete a five-year surgical residency. She is certified by the American Board of Surgery. She then completed an additional year of fellowship training in Breast Surgical Oncology at the prestigious University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. This training included further experience in genetic counseling, nipple and skin sparing mastectomy as well as management of benign and malignant breast disease. She joins Breast Care Specialists in commitment to bring the latest in the treatment of breast cancer and breast disease. She is Shreveport-Bossier’s first female breast surgeon and first fellowship- trained breast oncologist. Dr. Mook has made traveling medical missionary work an important part of her life.
