Geaux Toro event to benefit Gingerbread House

Have you ever wanted to run with the bulls? Well, now is your chance to get a small taste of that experience at the Geaux Toro in the East Bank event on Saturday, July 7, from 6-10 p.m. hosted at Flying Heart Brewing & Pub. At this event, the girls from Twin City Roller Derby will serve as the “bulls” as they encourage participants to move their feet during this race. The event will feature food and live music. All proceeds will be divided between the Gingerbread House and the Twin City Roller Derby team.

“In place of actual bulls, the ladies of Twin City Roller Derby will be skating and urging runners forward with all sorts of implements like whiffle ball bats and soft tee-ball bats,” said Elizabeth Pattillo, sales siren for Flying Heart Brewing. “There will be live music, cold drinks and great food in addition to the run.”

This event is a great way to showcase the new East Bank District. The team at Flying Heart Brewing is beyond excited to show off the area.

“Excited might be an understatement,” Pattillo said. “We can’t wait to help showcase the redevelopment and help bring awareness to the district. Shreveport-Bossier citizens who shop on the Bossier side of the river and Bossier’s tourism taxes helped build this creative district, and we are proud to call it home.”

“Gingerbread House is such an amazing organization, and they provide services to our cities’ most vulnerable children,” she said. “These kids need support to heal and try to find normalcy after being subjected to abuse or witnessing a crime, and that is exactly what Gingerbread House provides. Our support, and each person who chooses to sponsor, purchase a T-shirt or donate is helping them support one more child who otherwise wouldn’t receive valuable counseling or other specialized services offered only through Gingerbread House.”

To purchase tickets, call Flying Heart Brewing & Pub at (318) 584-7039.
