Louisiana Tech makes education accessible from anywhere

While the sights and sounds that will begin this school year may feel more familiar than last fall, technology gains made during the pandemic will help even more students complete Louisiana Tech University degrees right here in Shreveport and Bossier City.

Learning environments at Louisiana Tech shifted almost overnight to transcend the physical limitations that came with COVID. That shift created opportunities for students who would otherwise not be able to attend Louisiana Tech.

Tech has improved the ways we serve students beyond the Ruston campus by building an educational experience that meets them where they are in Shreveport/ Bossier and everywhere else.

These efforts are aimed to reach the audience known as the nontraditional college student. Nontraditional students enter college with varying needs and life dynamics, but what they all have in common is their desire to further their education in ways that fit their lifestyles and meet their goals. Louisiana Tech’s answer to that need is online and hybrid learning options.

Beginning an online degree with Tech has been made easier in many ways. Courses traditionally taught through Tech Barksdale will be online for the seventh consecutive quarter. The Louisiana Tech Academic Success Center in Bossier City will serve as a hub for all Tech students who need assistance with topics such as admission, financial aid, advising, textbooks and more.

Courses and programs that are available online have been designed for flexibility and convenience. Students can choose their areas of interest, transfer in previously earned courses, and complete courses without physically attending class.

Available programs include:

• Associate of General Studies with concentrations in business administration, criminal justice, history, humanities, psychology and social sciences.

• Also, focus on Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in business administration, computer applications, criminal justice, history, humanities, military science, psychology and social sciences.

Louisiana Tech delivers high-quality, in-demand degrees that meet the needs of students where they are. We are proud to be serving Bulldogs beyond Ruston.
