The local store offers an assortment of unique items.

The one-stop local shop

Upon entering in downtown Shreveport, you first notice the light. The corner location, full of windows, plays beautifully against the bright and unique products such as Happy Everything ceramics. The light and great site also appealed to owners Chris and Katy Rhodes. “We wanted a casual, fun, downtown, modern-day general store with something for everyone,” Katy said.

Whether you’re looking for a shower or party gift or just something that makes you smile, it’s easy to find. With a wide product range of hats, earrings, hair accessories, music, fishing and hunting-themed gifts – think guitar-shaped lunchbox – there is much to choose from. There is an excellent selection of specialty oils, cocktail mixers, jams and jellies. They also support local vendors such as Hummer & Son’s Honey and Jessica’s Freeze Dried Sweets. You can also find unique aprons and dish towels. Clothing runs the gamut from pop culture to ethnic to ladies’ loungewear with brands such as Emerson & Friends and Appli-K’s. Blue Q socks and totes are eye-catching, and last but not least, Louisiana and Shreveport items are proudly displayed, with more on the way.

For customers who have grown to depend on them as Appli-K’s Embroidery & Gifts for so many years, that is still a big part of their business. Katy is proud of the work they’ve done.

“With our Appli-K’s products, which include machine embroidery and vinyl transfers, we love working with both the one-of-a-kind individual requests and commercial projects, such as chef’s coats for the Louisiana Food Prize.”

Talking with Chris Rhodes, his love of downtown is obvious. “Downtown gave us our opportunity; we owe a lot to downtown. We’re in love with this location and believe the future is right here on Crockett Street.”
