318 Restaurant Week returns to delight foodies

It’s a food lover’s dream come true. March 30 through April 5 marks the return of 318 Restaurant Week in Shreveport-Bossier City.

The event features seven days of dining deals for residents and visitors to the river cities, giving them a chance to explore the area’s culinary scene and support some of the cities’ top food destinations.

Some 44 restaurants will participate in the yearly dining showcase, offering special deals for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert. For one week only, you can enjoy exclusive dining deals, special menus and one-night-only dining experiences at some of the area’s most notable dining establishments.

“318 Restaurant Week is a celebration of all of our local restaurants because what makes us special is how unique all of our characters are in town, and that includes all of the different kinds of cuisine we have,” said Emma Boone, public relations and digital content manager for Visit Shreveport-Bossier. “We have international cuisine, we have tons of great barbecue, there’s great pizza, we have Vietnamese food, and we have lots of dessert places. So it’s really just to celebrate all of our local restaurants, and it’s kind of like supporting our community from the inside out because it attracts visitors, but it also is one of our biggest events for local restaurants throughout the year.”

Why is the event so popular? “I think it’s popular because people love a deal,” Boone said. “Especially nowadays, everybody’s talking about inflation. We have the $10 breakfast deals, there are $15 lunches and $25 dinners, and there’s also another category called ‘Lagniappe’ — you know, a little something extra.

And that’s for specialty cocktails or desserts.”

318 Restaurant Week also offers exclusive dining experiences, “one-night-only events that you can go to and have an intimate experience at the restaurant, get to know the chef and their story and what truly makes their specific restaurant special.”

318 Restaurant Week is truly advantageous for local diners who want to save a few dollars for a night on the town, but it also benefits participating restaurants “by helping spread the word about all of the wonderful restaurants we have in town.”

Also, people might be enticed to try out a new dining establishment they otherwise might pass up. It gives people “a chance to try something you always wanted to try but now that they have a $10 breakfast or a $15 lunch, they’re definitely going to go out of their way to try it.”

Some 44 restaurants are participating in this year’s edition of 318 Restaurant Week, running the gamut from casual eateries like The Cotton Boll Grill to fine dining locations like The Prime Rib. “There’s pretty much something for everybody on this list,” Boone said.

Some of the unique experiences awaiting local foodies include A Persian Dining and Dancing Experience at Flames Mediterranean Restaurant, a Fish Fry Friday at Orlandeaux’s Cross Lake Cafe and learning the art of pizza dough throwing and stretching at Flying Heart Brewing & Pub.

“I think, from the public, people love it because it’s a great deal and it’s really hard to pass up and you get to explore places you would not normally try, and then from a restaurant’s perspective, I think you’ll get a lot of traffic from new customers that are going to become returning customers, and that’s always good,” Boone said.

Participants can explore participating restaurants, menus and specials by downloading the 318 Restaurant Week app.
