Coburn Supply
When it comes to home improvement, this is the place to be
Builders and remodelers alike, head to Company when it’s time to tackle a project.
Coburn Supply Company is a distributor of commercial and residential plumbing, electrical, waterworks and HVAC products and services and serves Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Texas with physical locations.
The Shreveport and Bossier City sites sell decorative plumbing – tubs, toilets, faucets – as well as lighting, appliances, hardware and vanities. Showroom manager Lisa Stuart says Coburn’s has “basically, just about anything to build a home, besides flooring and countertops.”
The team at Coburn’s offers an array of services from helping an individual customer make selections for their home project to bidding out a builder’s plan to help them budget. Before beginning work, many builders send their plans over to Coburn’s. “We’ll bid the home for budgeting purposes, and [the builders] come in and make selections,” said Stuart.
Stuart says she has chosen new trends to showcase in speculative homes, while staying with the builder’s budget. “It varies from builder to builder. Some like to pick out their own stuff, so they have an idea about their lighting and colors,” said Stuart. Coburn’s also sees many home owners who come in to make their own selections for their custom home or remodel.
Builders and remodelers have an array of options to choose from and many new trends. “I’m seeing color coming back. They even make some faucets that have accent colors, like blue, pink and orange,” said Stuart. “I’m seeing color available in sinks – you can get navy sinks now. And KitchenAid makes ranges that come in yellow, orange, blue and red.”
Coburn’s carries KitchenAid appliances, as well as Whirlpool, Maytag, JennAir, GE, Thermador and Bosch brands.
Technology continues to advance. “Delta came out with voice activation to add to the Touch faucets –‘Alexa, turn on my faucet. Alexa, dispense eight ounces of water,’” said Stuart. The feature can be utilized with the addition of an adapter on the faucet and water line. Speaking of Alexa, Stuart says Moen has an Alexa shower that can follow voice commands to turn the water on and off or even power on a nearby handheld device.
Stuart foresees a possible uptick in the purchase of washlets – a seat that can be installed on any toilet that is heated, a dryer and a bidet. It also comes with a remote. “It’s not like the old-style toilet with a bidet next to it where you have to switch seats,” said Stuart. Toto USA and American Standard have washlet options.
Stuart loves what she does. “Helping somebody make the selections for their home – something that’s very important to them and they’re taking pride in – I like to see it all come together,” she said.
