COME RAIN, or COME SHINE

Jim Fine Custom Homes On Parade

Builder Jim Fine didn’t let the weather rain on his Parade (of Homes) this year.

Excessive rain sidelined last year’s Parade home, but Jim Fine Custom Homes ensured the foundation for this year’s home was poured and the house completed in less than five months – despite the rain. Fine credits his dedicated subcontractors for their efficiency and remarkable work.

“When we were doing the framing, we could only work three days of the week, because it was raining four,” he said. “Whatever days it didn’t rain, we worked.”

Located in Princeton’s Faith Estates, the four-bedroom, four-bath home boasts several features that are sure to wow parade-goers. One of the homeowners is a professional photographer, so the addition of a darkroom was a must. A light on the room’s exterior indicates when the room is in use.

Thanks to the addition of a GE Kitchen Hub, tasks such as looking up recipes, starting a load of laundry or adjusting the thermostat are as easy as pushing a button or voicing a command. Fine says it works with anything in the home that is programmable. The Kitchen Hub is a combination smart touch screen and ventilation hood with a dual-camera system. That means it can also be used to video call family and friends, watch movies and television shows, and connect online to social media. Those are just a few of the things the Kitchen Hub can do – be sure to stop by the home to check it out in person.

A canned goods cabinet in the pantry allows cans to be stacked and rotate down when one is removed. Another life hack includes a lift for a stand mixer. It raises the mixer out of a cabinet and adjusts to counter level. Fine prides himself on making homeowner requests a reality. “Basically, we tell them, ‘If you show us a picture, we can build it,”’ he said.

The ceiling in the dining room is triangleshaped – a first for Fine – while the master bedroom has a tongueand-groove barrel ceiling. A curved staircase leads to the second floor, and the storage space below contains curved shelves. The entryway tile was ordered from Italy after the homeowner saw it in a catalog and fell in love with it.

537 Daley has many more eye-catching details paradegoers won’t want to miss. Stop by on the weekends of June 20-21 and 27-28 to view it in person.
