MASTER GARDENER CLASS: The LSU AgCenter is accepting applications for the next Northwest Louisiana Master Gardeners Class, scheduled for January through March. Membership is open to all adults in Northwest Louisiana. Classes will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Thursday for 10 weeks, starting Jan. 21. Class is limited. On Dec. 17, Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet will perform excerpts from “The Nutcracker.” Dec. 20, Joanie of The Joanitones will perform solo. This is the biggest fundraiser for the seniors at Loyola College Prep. • The Merkle Center of Hope Shelter – This is a 110-bed shelter that assists veterans, men, women and families get back on their feet by helping them find jobs, affordable housing and a plan for their future.

• The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club of Shreveport who assist underprivileged youth ages 6-18. They assist with self-esteem issues, schooling and many other issues these children face.

• Emergency Assistance Programs

• For all eight (8) parishes in Northwest Louisiana

• Angel Tree, which is a Christmas program for the community to adopt underprivileged children aged 0 – 12 in all eight (8) parishes. We have 1,060 children who are in the program this year.
