Much-needed rain didn’t dampen the Krewe of Atlas XV Coronation, held July 29 at the American Legion. A deejay, second line and silent auction were among offerings. Make-ityourself tacos by Uneeda were a hot hit, as was an unusual fork pull from a globe that provided possible prizes. The captain is Elizabeth Sims, and the co-captain is David Sims. Duchess of Desire is Kristal Pierce, and Duchess of Mystique is Rebecca Cude. King and queen are John and Bitsy Smith. The ball will take place on Jan. 21 at the Shreveport Convention Center, with the theme being “Atlas Through the Years” and tributes to each one. – Mary Ann Van Osdell
