The Cotillion Club hosted its 74th annual ball on Friday, April 14, at Shreveport Municipal Auditorium. “The Greek Isles, Jewels of the Aegean Sea” was this year’s theme. Cotillion King LXXIV was Dr. Stephen Collier, and Her Royal Majesty LXXIV Queen was Mary Cecile Hancock. Upper Crust Catering provided the grand buffet, and Limelight provided entertainment. The Norton Art Gallery held its opening reception for Bloom! on March 24. The exhibition is in its seventh year and will end on May 7. The juried exhibition had 358 submissions from over 16 countries. Fifty were chosen for display. – Mary Ann Van Osdell

The Junior League had a packed house at its annual Designer Bag Bingo on March 30 at Sam’s Town Casino. Designer bags were the bingo prizes. There were also raffles and dinner. – Mary Ann Van Osdell

Shreveport’s biggest St. Patrick’s Day party was back this year: Paddy in the Plaza! Downtown Shreveport Unlimited, the organization that hosts the Mudbug Madness Festival each year, resurrected the outdoor party at Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport on Friday, March 17. The festival featured live music from 3 – 11 p.m., with Stiff Necked Fools, Cowboy Mouth and The Hollow Decks providing the musical entertainment. – Mark Crawford

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital hosted the ninth annual Miracles on the Red fundraiser at Shreveport Aquarium on Saturday, April 1. The outdoor evening event included a cocktail reception, seated dinner with food by Anthony Felan of Fat Calf Brasserie, entertainment and a live auction. The 2023 St. Jude Miracles on the Red Spirit of St. Jude Honoree was Michael T. Acurio, who was presented with the award. More than $500,000 was raised at the event. – Mark Crawford

The Louisiana Food Prize has kicked off its Society of the Golden Fork: Spring Sessions. On Monday, April 17, Chef Anthony Felan showcased a flavorful, five-course meal at Fat Calf Brasserie. Chef Chris Hayes whipped up a delicious, six-course meal on Tuesday, April 25, overlooking the Red River at the Shreveport Aquarium. Eddie Spencer, on the saxophone, provided the musical melodies for the evening. – Paul Savage Jr.
