Lucky for us, there are multitudes of events going on in our area. We have Mardi Gras at our fingertips. It'd be silly not to take advantage. Thousands flock to Louisiana every year to take part. We, those rooted in the soil, should not look over the bounty that is Mardi Gras in our region.

The property, in the heart of South Highlands, was built by Steve Simon Contruction on a formerly heavily wooded and overgrown corner lot. Embracing the site and nature, the home sits snugly in place as if it has long been there. Pollard-Hodgson architects added flourishes throughout the home as well.

M. Loftin Builder, LLC, began construction March 1 of a 6,000-sqaure-foot-home he was determined to build just under 100 days for the Northwest Louisiana Home Builder’s Association Parade of Homes.

This year’s Krewe of Highland parade will be held at 2 p.m. Feb. 15 and is free and open to the public. The parade runs through the heart of the historic Highland neighborhood, where the architecture and openness of the diverse people who live and work there give it a distinct feel that delights visitors.
