Over the past year, the value of having the world delivered to your doorstep has increased exponentially.

However, while difficult to navigate, the year offered many opportunities for innovation and growth. As disruptive as the impact of Covid-19 has been, LSUS saw record enrollment in the spring and fall, and the university is now the fastestgrowing higher education institution in Louisiana over the last five years.

The COVID virus has changed everyone’s world. Many grieve over the loss of friends and loved ones. Many have suffered great personal loss. Health and careers have been impacted. Many have experienced the crush of change from mental, spiritual and other health concerns in caring for children and aging parents.

It is very difficult to avoid physical pain as you get older. However, as many people age, they complain less about pain. This phenomenon may be caused by a decreased sensitivity to pain. However, some believe that seniors don’t moan as much as juniors because they tend to be stoics.

No one expresses the sentiment of home more than Perry Como when we hear the lyrics to his beloved Christmas song, “Oh, there’s no place like home for the holidays.” It is a warm and fuzzy emotion that many of us experience as we make plans to head “home” and visit our loved ones, especially aging parents, during the holiday season.
