Willis-Knighton Cancer Center’s Department of Radiation Oncology became the first site in the world to introduce compact scanning beam imageguided proton therapy. Over subsequent years, renowned centers such as Mayo Clinic, St. Jude’s, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Johns Hopkins Medical Center followed suit.

Mark H. Smith Jr., MD, specializing in general, bariatric and robotic-assisted surgery at Willis- Knighton Health System, has performed his 1,000th da Vinci ® robotic surgery. Dr. Smith, who practices at WK North Laparoscopic Surgical Associates, has been using the da Vinci technology since January 2015.
