Judy Christie, Julie Pennell and Liz Talley share Shreveport inspiration

Shreve Memorial Library is partnering with three local authors to present a live virtual chat event on Thursday, Aug. 6. The “Ladies Night Author Chat” will feature authors Judy Christie, Julie Pennell and Liz Talley, each of whom has lived in Shreveport. The virtual chat event will be live-streamed via Zoom and begins at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 6. Registration is required.

The event will be moderated by award-winning journalist and author Judy Christie. Christie is the author of 18 books of both fiction and nonfiction. A former editor at daily newspapers in Tennessee, Louisiana, Florida and Indiana, she holds a master’s degree in literature from Louisiana State University in Shreveport. She and her husband live in rural Colorado.

Julie Pennell grew up in Shreveport, La. After graduating from Louisiana Tech University, she headed to New York to work at Seventeen magazine. She currently lives in Philadelphia with her husband and two young sons and is a regular contributor to TODAY.com. Her writing has also appeared in The Knot, In Style and Refinery29. She is the author of “The Young Wives Club” and “Louisiana Lucky.”

Rounding out the panel is Liz Talley. A finalist for both the Romance Writers of America’s prestigious Golden Heart and RITA Awards, Liz Talley is the author of “The Wedding War,” “Room to Breathe,” “Come Home to Me” and “Charmingly Yours,” and “Perfectly Charming” in the Morning Glory series, among many more novels. Finding a home writing heartwarming contemporary romance, Talley sets her stories in the South, where the tea is sweet, the summers are hot and the porches are wide. She lives in North Louisiana with her childhood sweetheart, two handsome children, three dogs and a naughty kitty.
