THROUGH MAY 22: CRITICAL MASS 9 is on display at artspace. This body of work by over 100 artists was submitted for audience appreciation and critics review. The Shreveport Regional Arts Council (SRAC) presented the annual conflagration of Northwest Louisiana visual, literary and performance artists. UPCOMING: BOSSIER ARTS COUNCIL is hosting their popular artists' call for a third time, “Contained Cubed,” the 12” x 12” show. Local artists can submit their works for this exhibition, and all works will be sold for $50. Artwork submitted will be juried by an anonymous gallery panel. $10 submission fee for non-members. Free submission for BAC members/ students/military (must provide valid ID). All completed works must be dropped off by Sept. 25 at Bossier Arts Council, 630 Barksdale Blvd. Artworks will be on display in the East Bank Gallery from Oct. 1 until Nov. 30. APRIL 16-17: THE EMMETT HOOK CENTER will be the stage for the Academy of Chidren’s Theatre 17th season with Disney’s “Moana Junior,” through special arrangement with Music Theatre International. The musical adaptation of the popular 2016 Disney film brings the adventures of Moana and her village of Motunui to life on stage. 7 p.m. April 16, 2 and 5 p.m. April 17. APRIL 16-18: SPRING AWAKENING. Stage Center’s 10th anniversary season kicks off when tickets go on sale March 29 for "Spring Awakening," the winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical. This rock musical is directed by SC Artistic Director Jared Watson, with choreography by Zhailon Levingston, who is on hiatus from Broadway’s Tina Turner musical, and musical direction by Seth Taylor. This local celebration will host live music from Grammy award-winning artist, Rebirth Brass Band. The festival consists of eight competitors: three bourbon cocktail artists from Bear’s on Fairfield, KRUE Events and Style Bar along with five barbecue pit masters from Big Nate’s BBQ, Hives Barbecue, SHV BBQ, Triple J BBQ and Triple T BBQ.
