GIVE FOR GOOD, North Louisiana’s largest day of giving, returns to lend a hand to area non-profits.

Kristi Gustavson, Chief Executive Officer, Community Foundation of North Louisiana

In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic brought all “nonessential” businesses and events to a standstill. At the same time, the need in our community multiplied overnight. Since the spring of 2020, North Louisiana nonprofits have worked tirelessly to help those who have been negatively impacted by COVID-19. By assisting the homeless, feeding those newly struck by poverty, or providing behavioral health and/or addiction services to those in need, area nonprofits stepped up like never before.

In return, our generous community stepped up for the nonprofits during Give For Good 2020 by donating a record-breaking $1.9 million. Please join us once again on May 4 as North Louisiana Gives For Good!

Give For Good is North Louisiana’s largest day of giving. Established in 2014 by Community Foundation of North Louisiana, the event has raised over $12 million for our community! Give For Good allows community members to discover and engage with nonprofit organizations and make a contribution to causes they feel strongly about. It provides the opportunity for area nonprofits to raise unrestricted dollars for the life-changing assistance they provide to those in need in our community. (Notably, the Community Foundation does not receive any proceeds from Give For Good.)

As luck would have it, Give For Good happens entirely online. If you are looking for a way to help during this difficult time, Give For Good provides the perfect internet platform for social-distanced philanthropy. By donating online during Give For Good, you can do your part to help raise crucial unrestricted dollars for nonprofit businesses. Donations at any level can really make a difference. A community giving collectively is much more powerful than any one donor alone. Whether a donation is $10 or $10,000, all donations are transformational for our community and indispensable to the nonprofit services they support.

Since 2014, the number of Give For Good donors has increased from 2,407 to over 5,500 in 2020! This is due in part to the Lagniappe Fund, a bonus pool that matches donations on a pro rata basis and gives participating nonprofits “a little something extra.” The Lagniappe Fund is made possible through generous donations from the Grayson Foundation, the Powers Foundation, the Heard, McElroy and Vestal Advised Fund, the Community Foundation, and other private donors.

Donors may begin making advanced gifts on April 20, or wait until May 4 to be a part of the virtual action. For more information on how to participate in Give For Good, visit giveforgoodnla.org. Our community’s most vulnerable citizens need us now more than ever. Please join the Community Foundation to make 2021 the biggest Give For Good yet by donating to nonprofits on the frontlines of helping those affected by COVID-19. We are stronger together, so let’s all Give For Good!
