THROUGH FALL: The Meadows Museum of Art at Centenary College of Louisiana will host six exhibitions during the fall of 2022, featuring works by regional and national artists as well as Centenary alumni and current students. The fall 2022 exhibition lineup showcases a variety of media and techniques, including sketches, mixed media, interactive sculptures and more. THROUGH NOV. 29: “CONTAINED 4”: The Bossier Arts Council invited artists to submit both their standard 12x12 works along with additional 4x4 pieces. THROUGH NOV. 30: SKETCHY BUSINESS- INKTOBER COMES TO THE NORTON: The R.W. Norton Art Gallery is joining the fun this year with an exhibition, Sketchy Business: Inktober 2022 Comes to the Norton, that will grow daily throughout the month of October. Each day, a different artist, using that day’s prompt, will create an original drawing for display in the museum and on social media. THROUGH DEC. 2: “OLD SCHOOL” EXHIBIT: The exhibit will feature over 50 artworks by Northwestern State University professors of art Dr. Bill Bryant, Clyde Downs and Michael Yankowski (Old School). DEC. 2-4: WIDEMAN INTERNATIONAL PIANO COMPETITION: The annual Wideman International Piano Competition will be held in the auditorium at the Hurley School of Music on the Centenary College campus. Thirty young pianists from many different countries and music schools compete for prizes that include the opportunity to play with nationally known orchestras. Each contestant plays a 15-minute excerpt from a piano concerto at the preliminaries. From 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and each finalist performs an entire piano concerto on Sunday from 1-5 p.m. The public is welcome attend all three days: the preliminaries at no charge, and tickets are $10 at the door for the finals.
