THROUGH MARCH 30: “THE ORDER OF THINGS”: Jennifer Robison’s investigation into perception and societal roles. Influenced by research in structural color and entomology, this work uses iridescence as a metaphor for how each person may perceive their surroundings. Every person has a unique belief system, usually revolving around personal values. Personal values become structured by the culture the individual is raised in or adopts at some point in life. THROUGH APRIL 8: ELLEN SOFFER- PINK SKY: There is a unique intensity of color and an awareness of form throughout her newest works. Experience more than 60 new works by Soffer in the exhibition, “ellen soffer: pink sky,” The exhibition is presented by the Shreveport Regional Arts Council (SRAC) at artspace at 708 Texas St., Shreveport.

THROUGH MAY 8: “LIFE THROUGH MY LENS”: This captivating exhibit is by student artist Rahel Aksam and are on display in BPCC’s Learning Commons Library inside the John R. FEB. 24-25: “BLOOD AT THE ROOT”: Presented by Grambling alumni and a extension of Excellence Performing Arts. “A striking new ensemble drama based on the Jena Six; six Black students who were initially charged with attempted murder for a school fight after being provoked with nooses hanging from a tree on campus. This bold new play by Dominique Morisseau examines the miscarriage of justice, racial double standards and the crises in relations between men and women of all classes and, as a result, the shattering state of Black family life." FEB. 24-26: THE THREE LITTLE PIGS: Three sibling pigs dream of peace and safety as they build houses of straw, sticks and bricks to keep the Big Bad Wolf at bay. They learn several valuable life lessons along the way. The Wolf’s “huffing and puffing” blows down each house until the pigs finally band together to build a strong, stable house of bricks to protect themselves … et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. MARCH 2-5: MAC BETH: After school, seven teenage girls convene in an abandoned lot to perform a play. They drop their backpacks, transform their uniforms and dive into “Mac Beth,” a DIY retelling of “Macbeth.” As the girls conjure kings, warriors and witches, Shakespeare’s bloody tale seeps into their reality. Mac Beth recontextualizes a classic text to expose the ferocity of adolescence and the intoxicating power of collective fantasy.
