On Monday, Dec. 11, Gov. John Bel Edwards joined officials with LSU Health Shreveport to unveil the transformative LSU Center for Medical Education, the first new building on the campus since 2008. After two and half years of construction, a crowd of more than 400 invited guests joined LSU and LSU Health Shreveport leadership to celebrate the completion of the four-story, 155,000-square-foot, $79 million structure. – Special to 318 Forum

The Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce celebrated the 100th anniversary of the building they call home with a 1920s-themed Speakeasy event. Guests were encouraged to wear their Roaring ’20s best, and many people did.The event also featured heavy hors d’oeuvres, signature cocktails and a 360° photo station. When the building first opened, it served as the Shreve Memorial Library. – Mark Crawford
