Making Spirits Bright
The Shreveport Ski Lodge is at Fatty Arbuckles in the Red River District.
Fatty Arbuckles celebrates all things Christmas
Fatty Arbuckles is out to put the spirits in holiday cheer with a specially themed popup for the Yuletide.
Their website asks, “What’s brown, silver, plaid, and ready to sleigh all day?” The answer is the Shreveport Ski Lodge at Fatty Arbuckles in the Red River District downtown.
Proprietor Chase Boytim and his team are hosting holiday revelers until Dec. 30 from 5 p.m. to midnight every evening of the week.
“It’s all things Christmas,” Boytim said. “We’re doing Christmas music, Christmas cocktails—we have a whole list of Christmas cocktails, and we did decorations to the max. I partnered with Bonne Summers over at Apex Events; she helped us decorate.”
The décor matches the description. Silver tinsel adorning the space, plaid wallpaper providing that ski lodge coziness, holiday lights twinkling and ski poles for “a touch of adventure.”

Boytim gives equal credit to his designer for the result of their collaboration. “I partnered with Bonne Summers over at Apex Events; she helped us decorate. Some of my favorite bars in New Orleans, Houston, Dallas have done something similar. We’ve been talking for the last three or four years about doing something. We finally put [it] together this year.”
Besides walls featuring mounted antlers for that outdoorsy vibe, they’re serving specialty drinks in retro glassware apropos of an apres-ski get together. There will also be nostalgic Shreveport snow scenes courtesy of Twin Blends Photography, even if the local temperatures don’t cooperate.
As the website promises, "Whether you're a local or just passing through, this holiday bar will have you feeling like you 've stepped into a paradise - Southem style."
The decor provides a ski-lodge vibe to visitors.
