Best in Sheaux: Robinson’s Rescue hosted their annual fundraiser March 12, Best in Sheaux, at RiverView Hall in downtown Shreveport. Guests enjoyed signature Pink Poodle martinis, first-class cuisine from Southern Fork Catering, and a Westminster-style dog show, which is the only competitive runway dog show in Northwest Louisiana. There was also a large selection of great silent auction gifts and four custom-built dog houses were sold during a live auction.

My criteria for Best in Show was focused on which artist, based on his or her chosen submission, had the most potential to produce a compelling, expansive solo exhibition this summer at artspace. Perhaps, because of the ascendancy of street art and immersive installations, large statement pieces are popular.

Producers: The Strand Theatre in downtown Shreveport hosted the Broadway show “The Producers” on Jan. 17. The show was nearly sold out. The next show at The Strand, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” is March 11. 

“I actually started a ministry for young kids that were going down the wrong path, and we were trying to entice them into the gym with mixed martial arts and fitness and obstacle training. We would do a quick devotional after every workout,” Nichols said.
