To celebrate their milestone 175th anniversary, Morris and Dickson Company, Louisiana's second-oldest business, hosted a grand party July 16 in downtown Shreveport.

If all the public relations media releases by the Port of Caddo-Bossier are to be swallowed, then one would think the Port is a cross between Fort Knox and its gold treasury reserves and the Department of Currency that prints greenbacks by the millions.

The event raises money to recruit and retain faculty and to provide up-to-date equipment and training for these future health-care providers. From funds raised in previous years, the hospital’s medical school was able to obtain the area’s only dual-console surgical robot.
