Our growing regional interest in local, healthy foods extends beyond farmers’ markets to schools and childcare centers. These local efforts are taking root in concert with increasing national attention and supportive policy change at the state level.

Glitz and Grits: The Louisiana State Exhibit Museum hosted its fundraiser Glitz and Grits to the theme of “Louisiana Saturday Night” on Sept. 26. Guests were entertained by the Bayou Boys and Raku Potter Bruce Odell, who showed guests his unique artwork. Buddy Caldwell also performed as Elvis at the event. Silver Star catered the event, providing food stations throughout the museum.

The State Fair of Louisiana is a “Whole lot’a happy!” this year with carnival rides, midway games, the food, music concerts, livestock exhibits and a rodeo – and these are just a few of the entertaining treats the event has to offer..

“Cantonese is mostly sautéed with all fresh ingredients,” Wong said. “My special dish is ginger and garlic lobster or steamed fish with soy sauce. Peking duck, we sell a lot of because it is so good. We season it overnight so that the duck is nice and tender and juicy.
