Open House: Dr. Kenneth Sanders announced the introduction of the new Pure Skin Med Spa located at 8711 Line Ave. with an open house March 16. Sanders was on hand for free consultations from 3 to 7 p.m. The first 25 guests received a swag bag of goodies worth $98. All guests entered for giveaways that included an ultimate makeover worth $4,700. Representatives from SkinMedica, Allergan and Eclipse Micropen, along with the Pure Skin Med Spa estheticians, answered skin care questions regarding Botox, Juvederm and Kybella injections as well as laser hair removal, laser genesis, laser vein, laser resurfacing, microdermabrasion, peels, micropen, spray tans, facials and waxing.

Academy: The Alexis de Tocqueville members were honored at the clubhouse at David Toms’ 265 Academy, also getting to meet Toms and pose for pictures. Hosts were Fred and Melinda Kent. The event was held March 17, St. Patrick’s Day, and a bagpiper was at the entrance. The Alexis de Tocqueville Society is the heart of the United Way of Northwest Louisiana program, giving at a high level and sustaining the 48 programs that serve the community.

Art Show: The South Art Gallery in Pierremont Common hosted a celebration of works of regional artists March 19 in an effort to bring awareness and grow the arts. Lana Pate, owner, hosts the semi-annual event. The gallery offers oils, acrylics, watercolor, sculpture, charcoal and mixed media from more than two dozen artists from Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi. A Southern Jewel catered, and Jasper McAdams and the Beauty Realm played music outdoors. Hors d’oeuvres included crawfish enchiladas, pork sliders, salmon on a cucumber, and potatoes stuffed with ham and bacon.
