The Krewe of Justinian celebrated its 25th anniversary at its grand bal with the theme of “Run for the Roses” at the Horseshoe Riverdome on Feb. 1. The tableau began with a call to post and honored all 25 former Justinian captains, including current captain Lyn Lawrence. King and queen Deryl Medlin and Lisa Clark were presented in elaborate feather shoulder pieces with much fanfare. The derby theme reigned throughout as jockeys in silks handed out specialty beads. The table arrangements and favors included champion ribbons, Maker’s Mark and mint julep cookies, roses, and jockey head gear and fancy hats. – Mary Ann Van Osdell
