To celebrate their new season of shows, The Strand Theatre hosted their season announcement party on the stage of the legendary performance venue in downtown Shreveport. Shows from this year’s lineup include “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” “Waitress,” “South Pacific,” and “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” Tickets are on sale now for all 10 of the upcoming shows this season. The first show was The Second City Legendary Laughs on Sept. 18. – Mark Crawford

The LSU Health Sciences Foundation celebrated the 10th anniversary of their signature fundraising event, An Evening for Healers, at the Shreveport Convention Center on Sept. 9. They shared three inspiring patient stories showcasing just how fortunate we are to have LSU Health Shreveport in this community. Many first responders, physicians, nurses and other health-care professionals were recognized who work tirelessly each day to save lives. Dr. Ghali E. Ghali was recognized with the Community Hero Award for his leadership in the pandemic response he and LSU Health Shreveport have provided to the area. – Mark Crawford
