The LSU Health Sciences Foundation hosted its 14th annual fundraising gala, An Evening for Healers, on Thursday, Sept. 11. The event serves as a platform to honor and celebrate the Shreveport- Bossier community’s first responders, physicians, nurses, allied health professionals and other health care providers who each played a vital role in saving the lives of patients at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport, North Louisiana’s only Level 1 Trauma Center, while raising mission-critical funding for LSU Health Shreveport. Since the event’s inception, 29 moving patient stories have been shared, more than 930 dedicated first responders and health care heroes have been honored, and more than $4 million has been raised for LSU Health Shreveport. — Mark Crawford

The Strand Theatre turned 100 years old this year, and to celebrate, they hosted a Centennial gala on Saturday, Sept. 20, on the stage of the historic theater. The event featured dinner from Silver Star, live entertainment and historic artifacts on display, dating back to when the theater first opened in 1925. — Mark Crawford
