The Krewe of Centaur held its 26th coronation Aug. 13 at Shreveport’s RiverView Hall. Themed “Mardi Gras Madness,” the event celebrated the splendor and whimsy of Mardi Gras. In addition to presenting this year’s royal court, guests enjoyed live music by Johnny Earthquake and the Moondogs and participated in a silent auction. Centaur’s 26th parade will roll Feb. 18. Captain is Susan Shofner, and Jennifer Hammons and Eric Enkey are queen and king. Duke and Duchess of Food are Chris and Theresa Miller; Duke and Duchess of Fun, Jerry Kaczmarek and Gladys Choyke; Duke and Duchess of Fantasy, Robert and Cathy Zahn; and Duke and Duchess of Frolic, Tim Huck and Maria Kovacs.

The Multicultural Center of the South hosted their 11th annual “A Taste of Culture” fundraiser July 30 at DiamondJacks Casino.
Different cultures were represented by the foods served at the event including Greek, Native American, Korean and Chinese. Money raised directly benefits the programs offered by the Multicultural Center of the South.

The Shreveport Art Club kicked off their 95th Annual Juried Show Aug. 7 at the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum. The reception was in the museum’s west wing galleries and included categories like acrylic, oil, watercolor, pastel and mixedmedia collage. Artwork was on display until Sept. 2.
