Tommy & Debby Williams and Margaret Shehee

The invitation read “Party in the Courtyard.” Neighbors and a few VIPs from the Williams Financial Advisors board stopped in to welcome Debby Williams to the trendy Lake Place neighborhood. Tommy and Debby Williams were married earlier this summer at First United Methodist Church. The neighborhood was invited to eat, drink and officially welcome Debby as the newest resident.

Some seen and being seen were Barbara Green, Ted and Susan Hardtner, Ed and Marlene Shaw, Ken and Julie Cummings, Mary Cochran, Martha Storer, Litt and Harriet Martin, Byrum and Jan Teekell, Armand and Lynn Roos, Sam Gregorio and Jenny Zuke, Sam and Marian Duggan, Gene and Nida Ash (Debby’s parents), Stanley and Betty Matthews and Dr. Charlotte Jones.

Former Gov. Edwin Edwards and the author of his biography, Leo Honeycutt, were guests of honor for a dinner presented by Northwest Louisiana Technical College. The college held its inaugural gala Sept. 8 as a step toward building a sustainable source of funds to support students, the college and the communities served. Held at the Bossier Parish Community College’s gymnasium, the two special guests signed books. Honeycutt has a new release, “Over the Edge.”

Five legends entered the Ark-La-Tex Sports Museum of Champions on Aug. 6 at the Shreveport Convention Center. They are caddie Freddie Burns, basketball coach Billy Montgomery, Louisiana Tech basketball All-American Dr. Ray Germany, Tech quarterback and coach Mickey Slaughter, and hot air balloon pilot Dr. Billy Bussey. They join nearly 140 other legends. Tim Brando emceed the event.

Dianne Harmon was feted for her 70th birthday at Nicky’s near Louisiana Downs on Aug. 19. Not her actual birthday, the festive celebration was arranged around her regular annual trips to Elvis Week in Memphis, Tenn.
