hosted their annual wine festival, CORK, at Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport. More than 100 wines were poured, and food was served from eight local restaurants including Dillas Quesadillas and Abby Singer's Bistro. Money raised from CORK benefits the Red River Revel arts festival.

The Silver Star brand has been around for years, known best for their delicious au gratin potatoes, their smoked meats and one of the best outdoor concert venues in the region. The newest Silver Star restaurant, Silver Star Cantina, is in Bossier City at the corner of Airline Drive and Texas Street.

Owned by Chef Anthony Felan and his wife, Amanda, (you might remember them from the OG Wine Country like I do), the restaurant is located on the corner of Kings Highway and Creswell Avenue in Highland.

RNL’s Cookery Corner is a food trailer owned by Chef Niematulai Longstratt. She’s best known for her traditional Sierra Leonean “Dine on a Mat” dining experience and being a 2019 Louisiana Food Prize: Battle of the Golden Fork finalist, and she has expanded her brand with a new food trailer.

Ashley Sugar Bates invited friends and family to celebrate the birthdays of her bestie, Kim Shepherd Carter, and Kim’s hubby Keith Carter. The Carters both turned 50 in February. The over-the-top decorations were by Wynne Glisson Hamiter, and Jennifer Townson Allen made a killer sign for the popular shot bar.

Shreveport’s Independence Stadium once again hosted the Walk-On’s Independence Bowl, which featured Louisiana Tech playing against the University of Miami. More than 33,000 people attended the game, which was an increase in attendance over the last few years.

University Veterinary Hospital has been named to the ninth annual LSU 100 list, which honors the fastest-growing LSU alumni-owned and alumni-led businesses. The LSU 100 honored Drs. Adam and Catherine Foret and the other recipients at the annual gala held at the L’Auberge Casino Hotel in Baton Rouge.
